Ashley Wallenhas a very distinct choreographic style by blending the old with new in his diverse collection of work from MGM inspired commercials and videos to the highly anticipated Netflix holiday film, JINGLE JANGLE: A CHRISTMAS JOURNEY. His show-stopping choreography was featured in the 2018 Golden Globe Best Motion Picture winning film, THE GREATEST SHOWMAN (starring Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, Zendaya, and Michelle Williams) which led to a World Choreography Award for Best Choreography in a Motion Picture. He also choreographed the spectacular live television promo performance of ‘Come Alive’ from The Greatest Showman with a cast of over 100 dancers which aired during CHRISTMAS STORY LIVE. Ashley is currently working on the reimagined CINDERELLA feature film produced by James Corden and starring Camilla Cabello and Billy Porter.
Working with well-known director Michael Gracey, Ashley choreographed PINK’S magical “Walk Me Home” music video. His music video choreography also includes work with mega-star, KYLIE MINOGUE “Dancing” (directed by Sophie Muller), CHARLOTTE CHURCH "Call My Name", SUGABABES "Shape of My Heart", ALESHA DIXON "The Boy Does Nothing" and GABRIELLA CILMI'S "On a Mission," WILL YOUNG “Your Game,” and many more.
Ashley’s TV and film choreography includes AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE, ABC’S GALAVANT, XFACTOR, ITV It’s Now or Never, Andrew Lloyd Weber’s SUPERSTAR, BBC1's DANCEX working alongside world renowned choreographer Arlene Phillips where he appeared on screen as a judge and mentor, BLACK EYED PEAS for a surprise kick-off party for OPRAH to create the largest flashmob in Chicago, the hit comedy film FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis, and was the associate choreographer for MADONNA’S debut film, “W.E.”
His commercial work can be seen in the EMIRATES AIRLINES (winning his second World Choreography Award for Best Commercial), HUGO BOSS, GAP, EVIAN ROLLERBABIES, and T-MOBILE.
Ashley’s choreography can be seen in world tours for artists such as KYLIE MINOGUE, ATOMIC KITTENS, BLUE, and WILL YOUNG. For stage, Ashley teamed up with director William Baker for the West End Musical RENT. He also remixed the highly successful Burlesque show POLLY RAE, THE HURLY BURLY SHOW, andGHOST.
Originally from the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, Ashley started training as a dancer in all styles at the age of 12 before landing his first big break as a dancer in KYLIE MINOGUE'S 'Intimate and Live Tour' of Australia and the UK at the age of 17. He went on years later to appear with Kylie on her 'On a Night like This Tour' in Sydney, Australia and then to choreograph her 'Love Kylie' Underwear launch in Melbourne. He appeared in numerous musicals including FAME, SISTERELLA, and FOOTLOOSE. In 2000 Ashley, was chosen to appear in Baz Lurhman’s musical movie MOULIN ROUGE. Ashley also went on to dance in films SCOOBY DOO, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and to choreograph the Australian film JOSH JARMAN.
