Melany Centeno

Bronx born and Brooklyn raised, Melany Anne Centeno first became interested in dance while attending Stony Brook University. While at Stony Brook she was accepted onto DejaVu Dance Troupe with no dance experience because she had "spunk." Later in her college career she became Captain of her Sorority's National Step Team and led them to win two Championships. Upon graduation Melany pursued training in NY Style Salsa on 2 at a top Salsa school in NYC: Santo Rico Dance School Inc. She later joined and was given the opportunity to travel and perform with Baila Society's Repertory company throughout Europe and the states. In 2010 Melany was accepted to Broadway Dance Center's Professional Semester. Here she continued to hone her skills and broaden her dance versatility. It was through the Professional Semester that she was able to be signed to Bloc NYC in January 2011. In January 2012 she auditioned for and was accepted into Rhapsody James' Motivating Excellence Dance Training program. She trained in all styles of commercial dance as well as acting and martial arts and truly found a sense of self through the training with Miss James. Since then Melany's dance credits include America's Got Talent, BET's Black Girls Rock, MTV Movie Awards, Janelle Monae, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Rowland, Luke James, Lil Kim, Eve, Charli XCX, Ty $, Tinashe and several commercials. Melany moved to LA from NYC to expand her horizons and looks forward to building a strong and lasting career in the entertainment industry.
