Keda Cyrus

Makeda “Keda" Cyrus, was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in South Florida. At a young age she fell in love with dance at her family’s caribbean basement parties. Recognizing her passion her mother enrolled her in Ballet, Jazz and Tap classes. Makeda went on to earn an Engineering degree at Georgia Tech in Atlanta, GA. In college, she was the Step Master of her chapter’s sorority and Captain of Georgia Tech’s Goldrush Dance Team.

Upon graduating from Georgia Tech, Makeda went on to work in the corporate world which eventually brought her to Los Angeles. After working in corporate for 4 years, she realized the last time she was truly happy was on stage! With little formal training, Makeda was in business attire during the day and sweaty dance clothes at night. She trained in Hip Hop, Stepping, Jazz Funk, Heels, Dancehall and Afro Fusion. After many early mornings and late nights, she decided to take a leap of faith and leave her corporate job to dance full time.

Since then, Makeda has worked with some of the industry’s top choreographers such as Jaquel Knight, HiHat, Nappy Tabs, LaurieAnn Gibson and Rosero McCoy. She has graced the stage with major artists including Beyoncé, Tamar Braxton, Janelle Monae, LL Cool J, Pharrell and many more. She’s appeared on Nickelodeon, Netlfix, The Voice, BET Awards, American Music Awards and many other programs.

Makeda believes we should all Dream Big, Work Hard and Let God Do The Rest!
