Janaya French

STYLE: Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical

CLASS DESCRIPTION: Jazz is a high energy class focusing on technique and performance. Will include a warm up, some across the floor excercises and a combo! Love to work with the students on bringing out the fire when they dance! My contemporary class will consist of a warm up and improv excercises to get the blood flowing and then a combo. My class will push the dancers to find the "why" in their dancing as opposed to just doing steps. Really working with them to perform and express feeling in every movement! Lyrical- very similar to contemporary, we would do a warm up and some improv excercise or across the floor exercises, but the combo would stick more to traditional lyrical lines and focus on the importance of telling a story with their dancing!

With her classes she enjoys focusing on the kids finding a purpose for their movement instead of just perfecting steps. Her favorite part of dancing is the way it allows you to express emotions and that is something she loves to challenge the students to find in themselves. Janaya believes success is something that should be shared with others and loves to help the younger generations of dancers in anyway possible!
