Holly Hyman


Holly

 Trained at the Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington D.C., Holly Hyman graduated with honors. Upon graduation she became a Fellow at The Ailey School in New York City. She stayed to become the first graduate of the Fordham University/Ailey School BFA program. While there she worked with Judith Jamison, Igal Perry, Kevin Iega Jeff, and Ronald K. Brown. During Ms. Hyman’s senior year she joined Ailey II, under the direction of Sylvia Waters. Upon completion of her Ailey contract, Ms. Hyman crossed over into the commercial entertainment industry. She toured with several music artists including Eve, Amerie (she co-choreographed “One Thing” video w/Jamaica Craft), LL Cool J, Missy Elliott, Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey and Rihanna. She has danced on numerous television shows, from BET Awards to Oprah, from the Today Show to the Superbowl, and music videos too numerous to mention. This broad professional experience has taken her all over the world, from Africa to Asia, from Europe to Australia and New Zealand, and from Indonesia to Azerbaijan. She has performed in every major city in the United States and maintains membership in AFTRA, SAG, and ACTOR’s EQUITY. Her film credits include work as a featured dancer with Julie Taymor in ACROSS THE UNIVERSE 2005, Hinton Battle in THE GREAT OBSERVER 2007, and Adam Shankman in HAIRSPRAY 2007. Having performed with the LA Company of 2008, Ms. Hyman continued with the San Francisco cast of WICKED, January 2008 to September 2010.  In the summer of 2011, she completed a very successful, extended run of TWIST- AN AMERICAN MUSICAL, at the Pasadena Playhouse, under the direction of Debbie Allen. Since then, she has worked on several commercial projects with choreographers and creative directors including: Debbie Allen, Michael Rooney, Hi Hat, Luam, and Tovaris Wilson. She has also had several roles on TV shows, including: Grey’s Anatomy, Franklin and Bash, The Fosters, and Bosch. Most recently, 2016, Ms. Hyman starred in the “Diamonds in Rhythm” Kay Jewelers national commercial, directed by Harry Patamanis and just completed a 5 month world tour with Adam Lambert, as his back-up singer and dancer.

 
Ms. Hyman has taught summer dance intensives at Collage dance Collective in Memphis, TN and in NYC, with Ron Brown and Evidence Dance Company. She was previously an instructor at the Nu Style Motherlode dance studio in Oakland, CA during her tour with Wicked the Musical in San Francisco, CA. During the summer of 2014, Ms. Hyman led a Jazz Funk workshop at the Broadway Dance Center in Tokyo Japan. Currently, Holly is a regular substitute teacher at The Edge Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles, CA, and she is coaching and teaching a private workshop to teenage dancers in Malibu, CA.
